How to fix scuffed leather shoes?
- Repairing lightly scuffed leather shoes is easy, and a great way to extend the life of your favourite leather shoes. Firstly, begin by cleaning your leather shoes with a damp cloth to remove dust and debris. You can also use a high-quality natural leather cleaner to remove particularly tough marks and materials. Once cleaned, rub the scuffed area of your leather shoes gently with the soft cloth in circular motions to smooth out the leather. Once the scuffs have been removed or reduced as much as they can be, allow the shoes to dry thoroughly, before applying a quality leather conditioner to restore their original shine.
How to break in leather shoes?
- It is a common misconception that leather shoes need to be broken in before they can be comfortable to wear. In reality, a good quality pair of leather shoes, when fitted properly, should be comfortable on your feet right from the moment you try them on. The leather uppers of your shoes may mould slightly to your foot shape over time, but the premium quality leather in R.M.Williams shoes does not stretch or require breaking in to wear.
How to stop leather shoes squeaking?
- There are many reasons why leather shoes can squeak with every other step during wear, but most often the squeaking is caused by moving parts of the shoes, such as removable insoles, leather shoe tongues and rubber soles. One way to prevent insoles from squeaking is to remove them from the shoe and apply a small amount of talcum powder to the place where the insoles sit.
